Mexicko-americká válka[1] byl ozbrojený konflikt mezi Spojenými státy a Mexikem v letech 1846–1848 vyvolaný americkou anexí Texaské republiky v roce 1845. Mexiko neuznávalo odštěpení a následné vojenské vítězství Texasu v roce 1836 a po celou dobu existence Texaské republiky považovalo Texas za svoji vzbouřenou provincii.
