Pokyny pro interwiki / Interwiki guidelines

These are the guidelines used for interwiki links at the Czech Wikipedia.

• Interwiki links should reside at the very bottom of each page, after category (Kategorie:) tags. (There are some exceptions on high-volume discussion pages like the Village Pump or Sandbox, where they are put at the beginning not to be in the way of newest additions.)
• An empty line should prefix the interwiki section. No comment is needed.
• Each interwiki link should reside on its own line.
• Interwiki links are sorted by their ISO 639 language code.
• For languages using Latin alphabet, special diacritics should be entered as such, with simple Unicode characters, not HTML numerical entities wherever possible. (Editors from abroad whose computers don't natively use anything beyond Latin1 and might mangle them easily must be careful and double-check the result.) The same goes for Cyrillic and possibly Greek alphabet; Hebrew and Arabic are a borderline case without a strong preference either way.

www.TheEuropeanLibrary.org (Evropská knihovna) gives access to the combined resources of Europe's national libraries. It is a service of the Conference of European National Librarians (CENL). The European Library is the organisational ground for the European digital library. This European Commission initiative will encompass not only libraries but also museums, archives and other holders of cultural heritage material.

The European Library gives not only access to the catalogues and collections of the libraries. It also presents some of their unique resources via http://libraries.theeuropeanlibrary.org/treasures_en.xml.

These so-called European Digital Library Treasures are cultural masterpieces. It would be a shame if these remain hidden!

Maybe you can help us in creating articles on these treasures? For instance create articles on the treasures of the national library of Czech Republic at http://libraries.theeuropeanlibrary.org/CzechRepublic/treasures_en.xml

The expression page_namespace in [0, 12] is likely not going to do what you want. Currently, in the abusefilter language, in doesn't really work with arrays. In particular, the above expression is equivalent to string(page_namespace) in "0\n12\n". This means that when page_namespace is 1 or 2, the expression will be evaluated to true as well.

I suggest changing the above expression to equals_to_any(page_namespace, 0, 12), which should have the effect that you intend.

User:บุญพฤทธิ์ ทวนทัย is a contributor based at the Thai Wikipedia who has created machine translations of articles and spamming them over a wide range of Wikipedia languages, including here. While the subjects of the articles he has created are (mostly) notable, the mistake of creating articles in languages he does not understand has led to extremely bad quality, probably at the level of illegibility. Unless local editors are willing to start a clean-up effort, I suggest that his contributions be deleted. @Paul 012: Thanks for information! I've tried to notify that user without success. I've also blocked him in June 2020 for "long-term contributing with low quality poor-sourced translations" (2 weeks), but nothing . I see two problems here: subjects of his article are hardly notable from the Czech POV and the language of these articles is really poor. ADD Interwikilink

Today I came accross this lonely Wikidata entry linking only to the czech ADD Article. Could this be merged with ADHD-PI on Wikidata or to ADHD on Wikipedia? Response in english or german possible.

It says the same in the wikidata-entry ("different from"-"attention deficit hyperactivity disorder") but hear me out. English wikipedia says "The condition was officially known as attention deficit disorder (ADD) from 1980 to 1987" so the same as the Article ADD here. So what i'm asking is was this never changed in the czech Medical system or was is changed in the medical system but not on WP?

I am not into medicine, but I looked up both terms in SNOMED CT and there is an entry for each: [1][2]. In fact, ADHD is listed as a parent concept of ADD, but it doesn't mean they should be merged. cs.wp guidelines on when to add "-ova" to foreign women's last names?

The en.wp article on Czech surnames says "The woman's surname is also not declined if it is of foreign origin and adding the suffix -ová would be awkward or unfeasible: Olga Walló, Blanka Matragi" and "Until 2004, every woman who married in the Czech Republic and wanted to change her name had to adopt a feminine surname, unless her husband was a foreigner whose name ended in a vowel", but cs.wp has articles like Judy Chicagová, Alice Munroová, Rita Leviová-Montalciniová, Mary Bakerová Eddyová, Blanche Caffiereová, Ruth Prawer Jhabvalaová, Elisabeth Noelle-Neumannová, Kiri Te Kanawaová, Maya Angelou, Bette Midler, etc. that are wildly inconsistent in their use of gendered surname suffixes. Why is it so much less common to see "ova" added to surnames from southeast and east Asia (e.g. Faye Wong, Lý Chiêu Hoàng, Kategorie:Čínské herečky; Kategorie:Japonské zpěvačky; although see Eileen Guová, Rjú Šimaová, Greysia Poliiová, Akiko Josanová, Jung Changová), Iceland (Kategorie:Islandské zpěvačky), Poland (Kategorie:Polské zpěvačky, but see Beata Maksymowová and the uneven application to hyphenated names in Erwina Ryśová-Ferensová, Maria Gontowicz-Szałasová, and Zofia Kossaková-Szczucká), and other places? If editors can't find Czech sources on a subject, does cs.wp license them to create these names themselves even if they go against convention?

And a few related questions: If Robert Mills was a woman, would "Jangova-Millsova teorie" be "Jangova-Millsovova teorie"?

@JoelleJay: Your research is probably a good demonstration that it's rather a mess, and unsurprisingly this topic is a common source of disagreement between users. Anyways, Wikipedie:Přechylování ženských příjmení is a page with recommendation and it starts with:

Female surnames in Czech are usually inflected, although there are exceptions to this rule.

So the convention is to inflect unless there is a good reason not to, contrary to not to inflect unless there is a good reason to. Though according to this rule, I would expect that for example Bette Midler would be Bette Midlerová. (So it's a mess.)

No. While Mills + -ová = Millsová, it would be Jangova-Millsové teorie (similar to Liskovové princip zastoupení).

Thank you for the info! Do you have any idea why names from certain ethnicities (like the ones I mention above) are feminized so infrequently? Also, if a foreign woman has a last name that is feminized according to a non-Czech Slavic system (like -ska in Poland, -skaya and -eva in Russia; suffixes that would be recognized by Czech people as corresponding to gender), is the standard still to add -ová? What if the name already has "-ova" without the accent; would Czechs add an ´ to the "a", add another -ová, or do nothing? And what about instances where the woman uses the masculine possessive suffix (like Angela Kulikov, Anna Baryshnikov, etc.); would these have -ová added or just á? Finally, what happens in cases where a man uses a name ending in "-ova" (like Allan Kournikova), would Czechs masculinize it to "Kournikov"? JoelleJay (diskuse) 28. 9. 2022, 03:06 (CEST)

@JoelleJay: I think it's caused by most people being uncertain of the "proper treatment" of names that "look very different from names they are used to read/hear". So instead of feminizing a name in a way that does not make sense (e.g., not identifying the part that is to be feminized), they leave the name unchanged.

Regarding the non-Czech Slavic systems, this is somewhat covered by [3] (accessible from [4], which is referred to from the cswiki recommendations). The key is identifying the "masculine part" of the name and then adding the proper suffix.

• For names that "look like adjectives" (like -sky/-ska in Poland which correspond to Czech -ský/-ská), the change is -ý → -á.
• For Russian names ending with -ov(a)/-ev(a), the "masculine part" ends with -ov/-ev, and the change is the usual -ová at the end. (Michail Gorbačov & Raisa Gorbačovová)

You can see the page sometimes indicates more than one possible change.

Hello!

I have some issues related to your article about Mariusz Trynkiewicz (the, you know, sexual offender and serial killer from Poland?). In your Wikipedia article, it is written that he is "homosexual" and I, as a Polish person, was like... WTF? (xD).

Sorry, I shouldn't be laughting. But you see... he got married? To a woman...?

Okay, so, yes, he raped and killed underage boys. Not because he is a gay man. Because he is a pedo. But just because his victims were very young males, you cannot - shouldn't - equate it with being homosexual. As a gay man, this is offensive to me. And besides, it is not an objective truth about him.

Could you please change your article, so it is no longer falsely prescribing him a homosexuality?
