Branislav Dekrét, the talk of the streetwear culture in Slovakia

Branislav Dekrét is slowly becoming a well-known name among young adults in Bratislava, but if you have been living under a rock, I'll gladly tell you who this young artist is. Coming from a small town in the heart of Slovakia, when he was only 15, he moved to the fast-moving yet very socialistic-looking capital, Bratislava. Where he studied photography, animation, and film, but making streetwear clothes won over his heart. So, come and take a look with us at his journey of selling clothes to teenagers across Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

The idea of making custom clothes first occurred to Branislav when he was only 16. He had trouble finding clothes he liked, so making his clothes was a no-brainer. Branislav at first started making clothes only for himself, but later on, he started selling his work to his schoolmates and friends who were intrigued by his unique style. Slowly he began to gain confidence in making custom clothes, trying methods like airbrush or screenprint, but they never turned out completely the way he wished they would. That was when he asked

his classmate Andy Pátková (@i_am_andula) if she could help him with a design he had in his head, but wasn't able to interpret it graphically. This design is well-known among youngsters as the “ACAB kitty tee”. When Branislav saw Andy’s work, he instantly fell in love with it.

In March 2020, he decided to invest his own money into this design by printing 30 T-shirts that he put up for sale on his Instagram profile. All of them sold out in one day. Everybody wanted his tee. And that was how Branislav Dekrét, the brand, was born.

Branislav knew he had to make more clothes - he realised that this might be a way to make a living. He started working with his friend Uršula (@pearlcoffin), who began designing more and more prints adored by many that made his brand the way it is. Many Slovak influencers started purchasing his clothes and sharing them on social media, making Branislav Dekrét not only the talk of the town, but of the whole young adult scene across the country.

In September 2020, Branislav worked alongside Czech singer and rapper Calin. Branislav stands behind one of the fits that Calin wore in his music video for 'Panama'. This collaboration offered Branislav Dekrét the exposure that changed everything. Not only the people from Slovakia adored this brand, but people from the Czech Republic did too. Nowadays, you can see a bunch of artists and rappers proudly wearing Branislav's apparel.

Branislav continued expanding his brand even more. He started a business called 'PureHeart' (@pureheart.clo) under which he’s currently not only releasing clothes but organising events too. This is only the beginning of this kick-ass label, so there's no need to worry, as there is a lot more coming your way soon, so hold on to your hats.

In March 2021 the first official lookbook of Branislav's work was shot. In that year also a really important message was spread through his collab with QueerSlovakia via a tee named “Kink At Pride”. All the profits from this sale were donated to the QueerSlovakia organisation devoted to helping the LGBTQ+ community.

In the past year, Branislav Dekrét has hit us with a crazy amount of brand-new and sick AF items, from different types of T-shirts, through caps and scarfs, all the way to hoodies and sooo many more.

In July of 2022, in one of Bratislava’s most loved clubs WAX, took place a fashion rave called ‘Struggle, Grind & Shine’ where Branislav Dekrét got the chance to showcase his work in his very own fashion show. The collection presented had his old items from years back, as well as items that came to life in a collab with Marian Kalavský (@mariankalavsky). The show was a huge success and was a moment of clarity in Branislav’s mind. It was a moment when he realized how worth it is everything that he has been working towards these past years. It might have been the first time he saw how big of an impact his brand has on people around him and all the youngsters who adore his work. It was a moment of happiness and joy, and I wish you could have been there, as it was a beautiful moment to witness. Let me be subjective for a moment and say that I will forever be grateful for having the chance to be there.

When the terrible disaster struck in the fall of 2022 at Tepláreň, a space where the PureHeart team has always felt accepted and at home, Branislav knew he wanted to help in any way he could. 'PureHeart' organised its very first event under its label in Nová Cvernovka. This party was a part of the festival and initiative Slovenská Tepláreň. The event featured artists from Slovak underground scene, such as Kristie Kardio, Lemon Whore, Nina Exui, Kodiki and many more. Branislav also re-dropped the T-shirt “Kink At Pride” in collab with Tepláreň. All the profits from these projects were donated.

In November 2022, Branislav released his biggest drop yet. This collection included some old items that previously sold out and many new ones. Honestly, this collection was pretty much to-die-for. For this occasion, the second lookbook was photographed in the spaces of the trashy and punk looking restrooms at Fuga, an underground alt pub considered to be one of Bratislava’s staples.

Branislav can do anything he puts his mind to, he is a visionary in what he does and he’s growing as an artist with every passing day. We are excited for you to see what the ‘PureHeart' label is planning at the moment, but trust us when we say, it’s gonna be fucking unique and memorable.
