Historie
Deutsch: Das Wappen des Landkreises Alzey-Worms wurde am 25. Januar 1970 vom rheinland-pfälzischen Innenministerium verliehen. Der Drache weist auf die mittelalterliche Genossenschaft der Münzer in Worms hin, der Kaiser Friedrich I. (Barbarossa) im Jahre 1156 das Recht zum Münzbetrieb verbriefte. Er zierte bereits das Wappen des ehemaligen Kreises Worms. Die Fiedel, die auf den Spielmann Volker im Nibelungenlied und auf das mittelalterliche Geschlecht der „Volker von Alzey" hinweist, ist das traditionelle Motiv im Stadtwappen von Alzey.
English: The arms were granted on January 25, 1970. The dragon was taken from the old arms of the former district of Worms. The vielle is taken from the arms of the city of Alzey. Both symbols also refer to the Nibelungenlied, one of the medieval epic poems of Germany, which plays in the area. In the poem Siegfried kills a dragon and there is a character called Volker, who plays the vielle.
