English: Deformed Foxglove. Although the Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea) is a common plant, this deformity is not quite so common (but not rare). It is caused by what is known as a Transposable Element, a piece of DNA that moves along the plant's own DNA causing changes to the structure, thus producing a cup-shaped flower at the top. More on Transposable Elements (Transposons) can be found at Transposons. For a picture of the full plant see 1376903.
