November 07, 2019 MEDA's Wind Sensor 2 seems to be practicing its deployment as if already on Mars. Because the nearly car-sized Perseverance rover affects the currents as wind blows across it, this boom can unfold to move the sensors farther away from the rover's wake. Analyzing data from both of the two Wind Sensors is necessary because readings from either boom may be affected by the presence of the rover. Each of the two wind sensor booms is encircled by a total of six individual detectors, providing an accurate reading from any direction. |
