English: Queen's Service Order (Companion) Awarded to Clive Alton Johns for Public Service frosted sterling silver badge in form of a stylised manuka flower with five large and small stylised petals; superimposed at centre is a silver-gilt medallion with the crowned head of Queen Elizabeth II (after Cecil Thomas, OBE, FRBS) within a circle of red enamel surmounted by the St Edwards royal crown in silver gilt reverse- engraved with full name of appointee- ALTON CLIVE JOHNS ribbon- red, white and black grosgrain ribbon with Māori Poutama motif of black, white and red diagonal 'steps' (signifying steps of service) at centre with red stripes on either side |

| Poznámky | Queen's Service Order (Companion) Awarded to Clive Alton Johns for Public Service in 1977. He received it from the Queen at an investiture in Wellington Town Hall on 28th February, 1977. Following World War One Alton Clive Johns of Auckland became involved in a number of masonic organisations. "Clive had also joined the United Service Lodge No 10, 24th November 1926, and was Treasurer from 1942-53; joined the Maungawhau Lodge No 168, 1957, Ponsonby Kilwining chapter 27 July 1942, resigned 1953 to join Mt Eden RA Chapter July 1952, Coronation RCC Chapter No 66, June 1941." (Brent Mackrell research notes) Alton Clive Johns (1893-1985) WW1- Served with the Wellington Regiment, on the Western Front and was twice wounded. His brother William Henwood Johns was killed in action in Palestine in 1917. Post war- AC Johns ran a radio manufacturing business in Auckland and for a period ran a private radio station. He also served on a number of community boards and was Mayor of Mt Eden from 1950-1959. His interests included sports and he was Captain of the first NZ Hockey Team, and became an Auckland tennis representative. In 1977 he was awarded the Queen's Service Order (Companion) for his public service. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
