English: A U.S. Marine Corps Grumman F9F-2 Panther (BuNo 12354?) of Marine Fighter Squadron 223 (VMF-223) "Bulldogs" on the deck edge elevator of the aircraft carrier USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (CVB-42) in the early 1950s. As VMF-223 transitioned to the Grumman F9F-2 in July 1950, and FDR was in overhaul until 25 August 1050 before leving on a deployment to the Mediterranean Sea on 10 January 1951, the photo was probably taken between September and December 1950. |
