Origin[editovat zdroj]

"It originates in Germany, where this 20-liter fuel container was developed in the 1930s for the needs of the Wehrmacht. From a military point of view, the canister was a significant technical improvement, as previous shipping containers required the use of tools and a funnel." I don't think this is true. Fuel cans (Kanystr) were known earlier, both for military and civilian use. But they were flimsy and were not very well to handle nor were they very robust. The iconic design of the 20 l petrol can[ister] (not too large, so it could be handled by one person; not too small, so it could be efficienty used in the supply chain; sunk welding seams; stiffening corrugation on the sides; three grip handle; flip-open nozzle) which was introduced by the Wehrmacht in the late '30s and quickly copied by many other belligerent parties during WWII, is just one type of Kanystr. Much earlier Standard Oil and others began to distribute kerosene (lightning oil) and later motor fuel in standard fuel cans. So it is not true that the Germans invented the fuel can, but they created a very successful type of fuel can, which is used even today. --Gunnar.Kaestle (diskuse) 13. 3. 2021, 12:29 (CET)Odpovědět
