You are correct, z (and c {followed by e/i}) are pronounced as /theta/ (English unvoiced interdental "th") in North-Central Spain. In Parts of Southern Spain (Andalusia), some dialects pronounce them as /theta/ and others as /s/, while the whole of Latin America and the Caribbean pronounce them as strictly /s/. 71.57.186.90 30. 12. 2011, 15:14 (UTC)Tom in Florida.

Allophones

Sorry, I don't speak Czech, however, I must point out that [p] is not an allophone of /b/ in Spanish. The written letters b and v are not distinguished in pronunciation: they are equivalent to /b/ with the possible outcomes of [b] initial (after pause) and ["beta"] medial, except after a nasal. Final orthographic -b or -v do not exist in Spanish because -/b/ is not possible in the syllable coda. However, perhaps in a few loan words, the existence of final -b may occur, and, perhaps could be softened to -[p]. I have no examples, however, to prove such a statement. The only consonants permitted in the Spanish syllable coda are /d/, /l/, /r/, /s/, /n/ and in rare instances /h~x/ (though usually deleted in the most common example: "reloj" {'clock'}).

Also, the open/closed /e/ and /o/ distinction is not allophonic...it's dialectal, idiolectal and may switch depending on the person and instances of usage (i.e., the unstable pronunciation of "either" in English).

Překlep

Nemělo by být q v tabulce jako q místo qu? Vím, že se sice v původních slovech vyskytuje vždy z následujícím u, ale spřežka to není (v přejatých slovech být u nemusí). Ve stránce je jednou uvedno jako Q a pak jako qu. Sám opravu nechci provést, protože si nejsem jistý, proč to tak autor napsal, prosím proto o zvážení autora.
